ABOUT NICK E. MILANOVIC

Since 2007, Nick has offered his services as an arbitrator, mediator and independent workplace investigator across Canada.  He has been named by employers and unions to a number of mediation and arbitration lists. To date, his services have been retained by clients in the Municipal, Academic, School Board and Hospital sector, the Transportation and Warehousing sector and the Energy sector.

Upon being called to the bar in 1996, Nick participated in a broad range of domestic and international litigation.

In the United States of America, Nick has been involved in international trade litigation founded on the North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC) one of the supplementary accords to the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).  As well, he has participated in international human rights litigation in the United States instituted under the Alien Tort Claims Act.

In Canada, Nick practiced labour law for a decade with a large national trade union and has been involved at all levels of our court and administrative law systems.  Nick has obtained extensive experience in a variety of areas of law including arbitration, labour board, human rights, bankruptcy and insolvency, judicial review and other court proceedings in the federal and provincial jurisdictions.

In addition, Nick also teaches law as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Law at Carleton University.  He has taught a wide assortment of courses in international human rights law, constitutional law, equality and discrimination law, labour law and collective agreement & arbitration law.  Nick has also testified before parliamentary committees on both domestic and international legal matters.
